Achieving Automotive Industry Growth Slightly In Year 2011
Despite the auto industry achieved a slight growth in 2011 and brought recovery of seven thousand jobs in Matamoros, textiles and appliances will continue to lose jobs, said Roberto Gonzalez Capistrano, VP National Chamber of Industry (Concentra).
He said that the textile industry and household appliances could not recover from the global recession of 2008 and that only in Matamoros, just over 500 workers in both sectors, working with half of his salary.
Capistrano Gonzalez said there is a possibility, given the adversity of the global economic outlook that in 2012 more than a thousand workers works in those same conditions.
He said that so far there are no companies in Matamoros who have stopped their production lines, “by contrast, are increasing their manufacturing because Tamaulipas offers a quality workforce and the unions are offering pearls of the virgin to hold the number jobs that are required, although it will be difficult to recover lost 22 000 jobs between 2008 and 2009”

Toyota and BMW have agreed to collaborate
Toyota and BMW have agreed to collaborate on research to create the next generation of batteries for vehicles greener, announced Thursday the auto giants.

Toyota has struggled to find good lithium-ion batteries for their vehicles and using green technology Japanese electronics maker Sanyo Electric Co. in the new version of the Pries which is plug and the automaker recently began taking orders.
